Massachusetts law recognizes that children have an absolute right to be supported by their parents. Because children are vulnerable and parents don’t always do what is in their best interest, the child support laws in the United States, and Massachusetts in particular, are taken very seriously. Non-payment of child support can have serious consequences, including legal and administrative action against parents refusing to pay.
